SAMOS WORKSHOP: Proceedings and Publication Preparation

CAMERA-READY DEADLINE: APRIL 25, 2009

Formatting instructions for the final submission:

The workshop proceedings will be published by Springer Verlag in the LNCS series.

The manuscript should be in "SPRINGER LNCS" format. The camera ready paper should be submitted as a package containing 1) the word document or the Latex source files (tex-file, bib-file, pictures, etc.) and 2) a pdf as reference. A package containing the class file and the bibliography style can be downloaded here (Word and LaTeX). The document typeinst.pdf provides detailed formatting instructions. The typeinst.tex file is an example of how to use the llncs class file and can be used as a template. Only word and latex files will be accepted.

During the preparation of the camera-ready please follow the following guidelines:

  1. Do not modify the margins of the paper to gain space. Do not use negative vspace command. If the margins are modified, the paper will be returned to the author. 10 pages are included with the registration fee. Up to 2 extra pages are allowed at an additional charge of 100 euro per page.
  2. Mandatory Sections:
         a. Title of Your Submission Should be Initial Caps -- Meaning First Letter of the Main Words Should be Made Capital Letters.
         b. Authors Complete Names -- For each and all authors their first name, middle initial (if any), and last name need to be included after the title of the paper on the first page.
         c. Affiliation -- EACH authors' affiliation, department (if any) affiliation location, State, Country, and email address MUST be included.
         d. Abstract -- Please include an abstract (short overview) of your paper on the first page top of the left hand column.
  3. Page Size and Page Breaks: Submissions that do not conform to the LNCS will be returned to the author. Be sure that there are no bad page or column breaks -- Meaning no widows (last line of a paragraph at the top of a column). If this happens either tighten the previous column or force a line over. Section and Sub-section heads should remain with at least 2 lines of body text when near the end of a page or column.
  4. Figures or Images: Figures and images are printing in black and white (grayscale) in the body pages of print version proceedings. We suggest you print your paper to a black/white printer (or black-white version) to be sure that the tones, screening, images reproduce well in black and white. We recommend images to be at least 300 or 600 dpi for quality reproduction. Jpg and gif pictures are often problematic in publications. Use vector graphics if possible and preferably in eps format.
  5. Fonts: If your figure uses custom or any non-standard font, the characters may appear differently when printed in the proceedings. Remember to check your figure creation that all fonts are embedded or included in the figure correctly.
  6. Footnotes: Footnotes should be numbered in consecutive order throughout the text.
  7. Acknowledgment: The placement of the Acknowledgement appears after the final text of the paper, just before the References section, and after any Appendix(es). Write the Acknowledgment section to be read in the third person.
  8. References: Each bibliography entry should include the names of all the authors of the referenced paper. The author list should not be shorten with the use of the abbreviation “et al.”.
  9. Copyright form: Along with the final version of the paper, each author has to submit a signed version of the copyright form. Print the Springer Copyright Form and after signing it, upload it on the submission site or send it by fax to +31 15 27 84898.
  10. Camera-Ready Submission: Once your paper has been finalized, please do BOTH the following:
    1. Upload through the submission website the camera-ready version of your manuscript as a ZIP or RAR file containing the Word or Latex source files (tex-file, bib-file, pictures, etc.) and a PDF as reference. Submit the signed copyright form in PDF format.
    2. AND ALSO send the same files by e-mail to the proceedings chairs (dtheodor@ce.et.tudelft.nl and carlo@ce.et.tudelft.nl) with the conference name and the paper number (SAMOS WS 2009 - # - Camera Ready) in the subject line.
